From the legendary 1840, Fonseca's first Vintage Port release, to the superb declared vintages of the last decade, the house has produced a succession of highly acclaimed wines even in the most adverse moments of history. Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage 2008. Ageing Period: Aged for 24 months in oak casks and then in bottles for about a decade until it reaches maturity. Winemaking Process: Port Wine from a single harvest or of undeclared or “non-classical years”, made from high quality vineyards of Fonseca s farms. Vintage Port is a wine of a single harvest of outstanding quality. The wine must be bottled between the second and third year of age, maturing henceforth in bottle.
